On Monday, China's drug regulator (NMPA) conditionally approved a domestically made HIV drug for treating COVID-19 patients.

Some context: The drug, Azvudine, produced by Zhengzhou-based Genuine Biotech, was originally approved for treating HIV-1 infections in July 2021.
